Genital Herpes
Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease. It enters your body through tiny breaks in your skin or mucus membranes. When the virus reach its peak, it is the most contagious stage.
HSV-2 is the virus that is responsible for genital infection. It is less common than HSV-1 which affects the face and mouth.
Usually you don't see the symptoms immediately. Many many people don't realize they even have genital herpes.
The first symptoms include itching, sores, and pain in the genital area. If you experience these symptoms, usually the first outbreak will be the worst.
Not everyone will experience outbreaks. This is why the herpes simplex virus can spread easily without you knowing it.
Herpes simplex virus can affect other parts of the body if left untreated. It may cause health complications such as blindness, vaginal yeast infections, encephalitis and meningitis.
Because it is severe enough to trigger health complications, it is important to get treatment immediately.
